LIVING 減壓記憶床墊，穩穩承托腰與脊椎，讓身體好好放鬆。 立即了解更多 → https://fstry.pse.is/9u7869 —— 以上為 Firstory Podcast 廣告 —— ----------------------------------- 🎧 通勤學英語 VIP 專區 & 🚀 線上課程 ----------------------------------- 💡 想要更自然的提升英語力？加入VIP會員，獲得專屬內容與優惠！ 立即加入VIP方案 → https://15minstoday.firstory.cc/join VIP訂閱常見問題 → https://15minsengcafe.pse.is/5cjptb VIP會員想許願哪些主題？ → https://forms.gle/xyHoPydBr6LLFL9q8 🔥 社會人核心英語有聲書課程 → https://15minsengcafe.pse.is/554esm ------------------------------- 🌎 15Mins.Today 相關連結 ------------------------------- 💬 你的想法很重要！留言分享 → 留言連結 Web： www.15mins.today YouTube： https://15minsengcafe.pse.is/3rhuuy 商業合作/贊助來信： 15minstoday@gmail.com 意見回覆 : ask15mins@gmail.com -------------------------------------------- 📜 單集逐字稿 & 內容摘要（播放器字數有限，完整逐字稿請到官網查看） -------------------------------------------- 「偷」這個字,聽起來就很討厭對吧?但如果有人跟你說,英文要學好,第一步就是去偷呢? 這集幕後教師室回到大家熟悉的learning tips,聊奧斯汀‧克隆(Austin Kleon)的《點子都是偷來的》(Steal Like an Artist)。一本講創意的書,拿來套在英文學習上,意外地超級對味。不管你是擠捷運的台北上班族,還是開車進竹科的工程師,這集聽完應該會對「模仿」這件事改觀。 以前叫偷師,現在叫sharing John老師從沒在歐洲留過學,但聽他講起來好像去過一樣。秘訣很簡單:身邊朋友有留英的、留歐的、留日的,他每個都抓來問東問西。在那邊怎麼吃比較便宜?出門要注意什麼?哪裡容易被扒?問一輪下來,別人的經驗全收進自己口袋。 以前這叫「偷師」。老師傅花了半輩子才練出那一點功夫,當然不會手把手教你,徒弟只能站在旁邊用眼睛偷學。 但到了網路時代,大家是搶著分享。John老師舉鼎泰豐當例子:玻璃窗後面師傅在包小籠包,外面一群人盯著看到口水直流,店家怕你學走十八摺嗎?一點也不怕。你真的站在那裡看,才會懂那十八摺有多難,要練多久才能包得又快又漂亮。 真功夫本來就學不走。15Mins一直說「歡迎來偷學」,就是這個意思。 先模仿,再remix,最後才是你自己的聲音 那要怎麼偷?第一步一定是模仿。 就像全民大悶鍋或美國SNL模仿名人,先抓語調、抓語速,觀眾一聽就知道你在學誰。這個階段還不是你自己,但沒關係,起點本來就長這樣。 接著是remix。一首歌可以有DJ版、電音版,甚至三太子版,同樣的旋律加進不同元素就變成新東西。英文也一樣,你從A身上學簡報的節奏,從B身上學開場的氣勢,再混進自己的經驗和個性,慢慢就會長出書裡說的own voice。 阿鍵老師以前待過廣告公司,他說業界常常copycat別人的創意,但最後的成品絕對不會一模一樣,因為每個人都會加進自己的變化。 那該學誰?拿歐巴馬和川普來比,阿鍵老師直覺覺得歐巴馬比較值得學,但問他為什麼,他也講不出來。John老師說沒關係,一開始先跟著喜好走。聽得夠多,判斷力自然會出來,你會發現沒有誰一定比較好,只有適不適合。從容沉穩的演講節奏,跟熱血、直接丟金句的風格,各有各的場合。 只背單字?你會變成很奇怪的人 很多台灣人學英文的習慣是背單字,聽到一個好用的字就拼命用。John老師說,這樣你不會變成歐巴馬,只會變成一個很奇怪的人。 他舉例,以前看浪漫喜劇,裡面的角色什麼都要說literally,你只學這個字,就會變成開口閉口literally、有點煩人的那種人。小時候電影裡大家都在this is cool、that is cool,酷了半天,後面該接的話全沒學到。 阿鍵老師補充,英文是一塊一塊的language chunk,硬拆成單字反而怪。與其背單字,不如整句整句抄下來,連前後文一起記。通勤時做英文跟讀(shadowing)也是同樣道理,跟的是整句話的語氣和節奏,不是單一個字。 學到了就拿出來用,別藏在口袋 書裡有一章叫Don't wait until you know who you are to get started。John老師說,武俠小說的主角常常掉進山洞撿到秘笈,隔天又有人傳他一甲子功力,好像每天都在吸收,從來不用出手。現實生活可沒這種好事。 學到什麼,就趕快拿去用。今天在捷運上聽到一句好用的辦公室英文,明天茶水間遇到外國同事就試著講講看。不用等到「準備好了」才開口,我們的字正腔圓,也是老師一個字一個字雕出來的。 說到copy,John老師搬出火影忍者的卡卡西。大家叫他拷貝忍者,一堆招式都是copy來的,可是沒人敢小看他。為什麼?因為他copy完還能remix,做得比原版更漂亮。 你不是copycat,你在收集未來的自己 很多人學英文會卡在一種心態:模仿別人好像很遜,好像自己是冒牌貨。這集John老師給了一句很適合貼在螢幕旁邊的話:I am collecting the voice I'm going to have. 人生有限,John老師也很想跑遍兩百多個國家,但就是做不到。可是透過YouTube、Wikipedia,還有一群老師朋友的人生故事,他收集了好多別人走過的路。每一點都是養分,慢慢把自己養成更厲害的版本。 所以下次在台北辦公室聽到外國同事一句講得很漂亮的英文,別不好意思。偷起來就對了。

At a SpaceX test site in McGregor, Texas, the white two-seater, developed with Elon Musk's rocket company, drove upside down on a ramp using a suction system, then fired built-in thrusters to leap over a truck, twisting in mid-air before landing. Nearly 90% of visitors who spent 100 million yen or more in one trip escaped customs checks. Travelers must carry every item on a receipt to the airport kiosk, or the whole receipt loses its refund. Shopping in Japan is about to get slightly more complicated for tourists who see a trip there as a chance to stock up on cosmetics, snacks and electronics. From November 1, foreign visitors will no longer buy goods tax-free at the till. Instead, they will pay the full price, including Japan's 10% consumption tax, and get the money back only after customs confirms, at departure, that the goods are actually leaving the country. 不少旅客把日本行當成掃貨的機會，化妝品、零食、3C產品一次買齊。11月1日起，這件事會變得麻煩一些。外國旅客結帳時不能再直接免稅，必須先付含10%消費稅的全額，等出境時海關確認商品確實帶出日本，才拿得回稅款。 The overhaul is aimed squarely at abuse. Government figures show that tax-free purchases were recorded on about 19.6 million departures between April 2022 and March 2024. In 690 cases, a visitor had spent 100 million yen or more on a single trip, and nearly 90% of these buyers slipped past customs unchecked. Officials concede that not every big spender was cheating, yet almost all of those who were caught and billed left the country without paying. Within 90 days, they must scan their passports at a kiosk in the departure lobby, before checking in any luggage. A green result ends the process, while a red one means showing the goods to customs officers. If even one item on a receipt is missing, every item on that receipt loses its eligibility. The 500,000-yen daily cap on consumables, the sealed-bag requirement and the split between general goods and consumables will all disappear. Refunds will be paid by shops or the refund agents they hire, with credit card refunds expected to take one to two weeks and bank transfers longer. For most visitors, the trade-off is more paperwork at the airport in exchange for fewer restrictions in the shop. Fed 升息了。新任主席 Kevin Warsh 是川普親自挑的人,川普又是出了名的愛降息,結果 Warsh 上任沒多久就投下升息票,調了 25 個基本點,是 2023 年以來第一次。伊朗戰事讓油價下不來,通膨壓不住,不升不行。 阿鍵老師覺得最有戲的是川普的反應。氣歸氣,他罵的是整個 Fed 理事會,偏偏沒罵 Warsh。自己任命的人,怎麼罵? John老師則要你先把關鍵字搞定。升息是 rate hike,降息是 rate cut。台灣新聞說「升息一碼」,英文講 25 basis points,也就是 0.25%;兩碼就是 50 basis points。外資報告裡常直接寫 25bp。 升息的理由可以慢慢查,但開會時聽到 "a 25-basis-point hike" 要能馬上反應過來。這是商用英文會話的基本功。 Meta 把眼鏡上的鏡頭拿掉了 John老師自認是 tech geek,這則當然是他挑的。Meta Connect 2026 最讓兩位老師有感的,是一副沒有鏡頭的智慧眼鏡 Ray-Ban Meta Audio。只留聲音功能,43 公克,是 Meta 歷來最輕的一副。 為什麼要拿掉鏡頭?智慧眼鏡的偷拍爭議一直沒停過,錄影時眼睛旁邊那顆燈亮著,戴的人和被看的人都尷尬。John老師說得很實際:跑步的時候你根本不需要鏡頭,但還是可以用喊的叫出 Meta 的 AI 助理 Muse。 還有一點,它終於變好看了。之前那副戴在亞洲人臉上真的太大,這次總算有點文青風。 同場發表的還有新的 VR 眼鏡,把運算和電池做成外接的小盒子放口袋,鏡框本身只剩一百公克左右。John老師的朋友 Gavin 之前買過 Quest 3,所以他會這樣開話題:"Gavin, did you see the Oculus update? I think it's time to get a new one." 自己想買的話可以說 "I'm in the market for a new pair of smart glasses. I think I'm gonna get one for myself this Christmas." 台灣上市大概要等到明年,那就改成 "Give yourself a gift for the Lunar New Year." 拍一下就哀哀叫,三天賺五千美元 這則是阿鍵老師的最愛。SlapMac,名字就是全部的說明:拍一下你的 MacBook,它叫給你聽。 技術上沒什麼了不起,用的就是筆電裡本來就有的動作感應器。阿姆斯特丹的開發者 Tonino Catapano 先是拍了一支打筆電的短片爆紅,接著 48 小時內把它做成 app 開賣,三天進帳 5,000 美元。後來還加碼,插 USB 它也會叫。 阿鍵老師看到的重點是 business mindset。迷因的熱度就那幾天,錯過就賣不掉了,差別只在你能不能幫一個小概念加值。 John老師想起 iPhone 剛出來那幾年的打火機 app、倒啤酒 app。超無聊,可是每個人都下載了。現在有 AI,人人都能 vibe coding,動手做的年代又回來了。 這種東西怎麼用英文聊?不用解釋。Show it, don't tell it. 筆電轉過去說一句 "Check this app out." 同事是 I 人不太講話?"I dare you to slap my Mac." 不過阿鍵老師提醒,台灣辦公室中午大家都在趴睡,這時候讓它叫出來⋯⋯你自己斟酌。 16 歲的泰國女生,吼贏全美國 John老師放給阿鍵老師聽的時候,阿鍵老師以為這聲音是二、三十歲、有點歷練的歌手。結果是 16 歲。 Nene Royal,普吉島來的吉他手兼主唱,拿下《America's Got Talent》第 21 季冠軍和一百萬美元獎金,是第一位奪冠的泰國人。她唱的還是搖滾和金屬,對 Gen Z 來說根本是小眾。現在滿街都是 hip hop,連 K-pop 都在 rap,聽搖滾長大的 John老師很期待來一波 revival。 阿鍵老師注意到的是另一件事。一路贊助她的 CP Group 就是泰國正大集團,在台灣叫卜蜂,超市雞肉包裝上那個 CP。奪冠後,集團資深董事長家族送了她們一家一戶曼谷的公寓。好老闆。 開場白很簡單:"Did you see the winner on America's Got Talent?" 同事愛聽搖滾,或剛好是泰國人,這題穩贏,他可能比你還熟。 另外三則,挑你有感的聊 名古屋亞運。 為了省錢沒蓋選手村,選手分住飯店、臨時組合屋,還有四千人住在郵輪上,抱怨多到市長出面道歉。當年台北辦世大運,我們對自己超挑剔,結果日本也會出包。不追賽事的人,聊「選手沒得好睡、沒得好吃」一樣聊得起來。 Nike。 待了快 18 年的 S&P 100,被踢出去了。John老師的比喻很台灣:想像 0050 哪天把一檔老牌權值股剔除。股價從 2021 年高點跌掉近八成,大中華區營收連八季下滑,大家腳上換成 On 和 HOKA。我們是穿 Nike 長大的,現在 Just do it 在分析師嘴裡變成 just sell it。 瑞士冰川。 當地監測網 GLAMOS 的數字:今年一年融掉 5.5%,史上第二高,五年下來少了將近兩成,跟今年夏天歐洲的熱浪完全對得上。融化的冰現在還能補上夏天的用水,可是冰沒了,水也就沒了。

John has loved British author Roald Dahl since childhood, and today we discuss this author's three film adaptations spanning fifty years and three different actors each portraying the same character: Willy Wonka. Through introducing the song "Pure Imagination," we also discuss a very practical question: what is adult happiness anyway? The answer might be much simpler than you think—a sofa, a cat, or a freshly fried order of fries.
